Saturday

8am Toby and I opened the gym with a game of squash where I tooken Toby to the cleaners. By the end of the match he was barley able to walk. Then we went back home and drank lots of coffee before we loaded up all the boats on the Denhollander's jeep. Then we headed up to the mighty Thompson river in Lytton. Brenda drove, Jazz rode shot gun and Connor, Toby, and I sat in the back and killed potato chips and cookies and inquired what Jazz has on her i pod, turns out its a whole Joanas Brothers. The river run was Unreal! Just massive water and massive waves! I flipped over a couple times in the first rapids but rolled right back up. The water is so warm and there is crazy eddy lines that eat you alive. Then there is these sweet whirl pools where you could do some sweet pivots in and I was starting to get the hang of it, oh mama! I am cooked now. What a week! Best week ever! Brenda has more photos she is going to send me soon, then I will post some more.

Who's got the beet?

Thursday, Toby, Connor, Kristen and I went Mt biking on Mackee peek out in Abbotsford. Right after the ride Toby and I killed some Safeway sandwiches and chewed the fat with the boys at wenting cycle and mt then we went home and packed up a bunch of plastic boats and kayaked down the Chilliwack Canyon with Toby, Connor and Jazz.

Friday, Toby and I drove out to Abbotsford first thing and ran the cop run. We just ran easy for the first 6km then we both kicked the last 4 and I did a 42 and Toby did a 45. Then it was off to the farm where my Mom had a wicked waffle breakfast and Connor and Kristen showed up and then we had a farm tour! Then it was back to the wack were I went mt biking in a monsoon and then played (got worked) squash vs Brad Rodgers. Then we had a sweet burger bbq and Anna brought a home made blackberry rhubarb pie. Then we all went to sleep.

Today we are going to run the Thompson river in Lytton but right now I am going to go Chuck Norris Toby in a game of Squash.

Quote of the week.

Wednesday

So Toby and I went mt biking in the morning, Connor didn't want to come because he got a infection and had to jam on us. We rode the duck farm and Toby crashed and a couple times and cut his shin on his pedal, good thing my bathroom is now the hospital in the house and after the ride today we can just head strait to the “hospital”. Then it was lunch and nap time then. Connor, Kristen, Toby, Jazz, and I went and ran the river from Tamihi down. Then it was back to the fort to change in to squash clothing and head to the Cheam center for a epic battle of squash were I proceeded to feed Toby the ball over and over again and beet him like 9-1 in 6 games straight. Toby's “new one” will be a little sore today. Then to top all that off we we all hit up the Yoga at 7 and then had a wicked bbq after. Anna your homemade Blackberry rhubarb pie was unreal! Oh wait. So tomorrow there will be more mt biking and kayaking and who knows what else. I might need a nap too. Best summer ever? I think so!

Toby's Down!

but not out. So this morning Toby, Corn dawg, and I went mt biking on Vedder and Toby had a wicked crash when he attempted this 40 foot gap jump and came up short. All he got was this little cut on his elbow. Unreal! See told you all I am bad luck. On the bright side I am now on this really sweet trek carbon hard tail with full XTR and the new 100mm sid, oh mama its fun to ride. I also ran 20km today and I hit the wall so hard, its the worst bonk I have ever had, I was almost tripping over my own feet at the end and I think I almost passed out, I don't really remember.
cleaning it out in the sink.
blood all over the place.
good to go. Connor kissed it better so it should heal real fast.

The best week ever!? maybe.

So Toby and Connor rolled into town yesterday and we had a sweet BBQ with some salmon, grilled zucchini, Dizzle salad, and Anna brought some wicked good cookies. During dinner we got a little crazy and planed out the week. So here it is:

Monday: BBQ and meeting about the week.

Tuesday: MTB first thing, then kayaking of some sort. Then a possible BBQ.

Wednesday: Marty and Brett are going to be here so we are kayaking down the river.
And then we are playing squash.
And then we are going mt biking.
And then some people need to rent crampons and ice axes
And then we have yoga from 7-8
And then we will have the Awards dinner after 8 some time. This will be a pot luck bbq style so bring some food and food to grill and there will be 2 trophy's that are going to be awarded. The cups are all fixed up and ready to go.
“no and then!”

Thursday:
wake up at 2:59am and drive to mt baker. And climb it to the top.
Then drive back asap and kayak down the Chilliwack river canyon.
Sleep.

Friday:
Morning-Espresso drinking contest with Toby and anyone else who wants in. After we get jacked on espresso we will plan out the rest of the day.
Night. We are going to go to wal mart and “rent” a karaoke machine and we are going to hold a rock concert off my deck. We are going to set up tents in the parking lot and rock out to Toby singing Roxanne from the balcony among other. Its going to be called “Fortstock” and it will be the event of the year so tell your friends. If there is enough demand we could truck in some dirt and do some mud wrestling let me know.

Saturday/Sunday: driving up to the Thompson river and kayaking all weekend, there is a bunch of people doing a down river race on the Sunday.

Sign up cause space is limited.

The summer of George.

This summer has just been unreal! Best ever! So the last while has been good, real good. The weekends have been the highlights with big adventures but the middle of the weeks have been filled with work both at the summer camps and taking out a bunch of raspberry's so we can build a chicken barns, as well as a bunch of running for the marathon and lots of river runs in the kayak along with a couple bike rides.

So Aug 3-4 we had that whole Nate braking his leg and the whole chopper deal. On the 5th me and Kurt had to hike back up to base camp to get all the gear that we left up there. The quote of the week was Kurt on the drive out there, we were both just wiped from the day before and really didn't want to go do the hike Kurt was like “oh I just want to just lay on the couch and watch TV!”

August 10th I hiked up Golden ears with Claire and it pissed rain the whole day, there was some blueing but not much. We didn't make it to the top cause we could only see two feet in front of our face cause of the fog. I got to drive Betsey over the Albion ferry for the first time on the way to the ears. Claire drove back but she just has her “L” so she got a lesson from Ricky's driving school.

August 11th I woke up at 3am and drank coffee and ate oats and drove to the mt baker trail head and was at base camp at 545am to meet Ryan Prachnau (brother of the ankle braker) also along was his wife and her sister and brother, it was a full on family affair. We got to the summit and it was so windy, we only were up there for a short while then went down. On the way home I stopped at Grahams store for the best cookie in the world “peanut butter, chocolate espresso” oh mama its unreal! Best cookie ever! (sorry mom)

August 15th there was a wicked group of people and we had a sweet BBQ at derby reach in fort Langley, we cooked burgers, played bachi ball and made smores, will even jumped into the river. I was thinking about jumping in but this Ryan guy who works for city and does a bunch of sewer work was telling me about what is in the Fraser and I though uh maybe next time.

August 16th I went and had coffee at starbucks with Nate cause he is board out of his mind. After that the day got rolling. Then I did Widgeon creek with Claire, were were just going to do kayaks but she has this full on wood canoe so we just took that. So for this Widgeon think you go by boat across the south end of pit lake then up Widgeon creek the paddle takes like 45min. Then you hike for 2.9km up to this wicked falls/pools area where you can jump around and swim and cool off, it was like 33c when we did this. Plus there was a wicked little cliff jump half way on the hike. It was such a fun day! While we were at the pools Claire stepped on something funny hurt her foot, it was really no big deal at the time but after she got home and couldn't really walk normal and had to go to the emergency and it turns out it was a real bad sprain and is out for a little while.

I guess I am back luck, it all stared with Kurt and the collar bone braking mt bike ride, then it was the squash racket in Toby's face and the resulting root canal, Nate and his ankle, and then Claire just a couple days ago. So who wants to play with me now? Brad Rodgers keep your head up!

here are the photos in no real order. plus some other photos. enjoy.

R.I.P.

Bone sadly passed away a couple days ago. He lived a full life full of mooching food off the kitchen table and chasing a tennis ball around. He was a unreal mouse killer in his younger days. He was a great dog and will be missed.

Crazy days!

Its been a crazy week. Last Wednesday after work I was driving out to Chilliwack to play with my kayak and mt bike. I so I got my bike on the roof and I am just cruising down the hwy and there is this van in front of me and he has a garage door on his roof that is tied down with bungee cords. The garage door then catches some wind and takes flight and its coming right for my car. I thought it was going to come right through my window but it went over my car and all I heard was “ga donk” on the roof of my car then I look in the rear view and all I see was my bike doing flips down the hwy. So the bike is done and I am now working on the whole insurance thing right now.

On Sunday/Monday was anther one for the books. I went up to mt baker with Kurt and Nate. We went up there late on Sunday, we then set up camp and Kurt and I walked a little ways up there and did a little ski then we cooked up some chow and went to bed. We woke up at 3am and more chow and coffee then we started out for the summit at 4:15. We got to the top at like 930-10 and just chilled up there for a long time just enjoying the view and hanging out. Then we stared going down and we were doing some serious sliding. We got to the saddle and Nate caught his crampon in the snow kind of funny and hurt his ankle. He was doing some screaming and was in some pain. Kurt first looked at it and then he took me aside and was like “dont say anything but its bad, you need to take a look at it” I did and it was not good. His foot was not really in line with his ankle and something was broken for sure. So we needed to get him down off the mt and into the hospital in Canada due to the fact that Nate did not get any insurance. So we used a ice axe and a bunch of rope and made a splint then rigged up a series of ropes and we stared pulling him down the glacier. It was just me and Kurt for the first hour and the pulling was so hard because the snow soft and nate was like a snow plow, it was also flat for the first bit and it was just 1-2-3 pull, I have never worked so hard in my life! We then got some help and it took like 5hrs to get him to base camp. We then tried to warm him up as best as we could then rigged up a system with some tree branches and 4 of us. We started down the trail going .25miles an hour and then there was a chopper flying in. The copper then took Nate out and it was all good. He broke his tibia and did some ligament damage. Nate had surgery last night in Abbotsford. It sounds like Uncle dawg (nate) is going to be out of action for the next ten weeks then he has a bunch of physio. Nates got a bunch of photos on his camera that I took of the whole chopper thing. It was epic! I will post those photos soon.
