7 summits in and out.

So a couple weeks ago Mike "27$ an hour" Levy had this unreal idea of going to Rossland. The plan was to drive out Wednesday morning, sleep in the van on some gravel road in the forest, then ride 7 summits Thursday morning, then drive home. Thats right, 13hrs driving and 4 hours riding. So of course I wanted in. I have to honor the "dude man" and do my best to fulfill rules 2 & 4. So Mike picked up Steve Uruski then me and we hit the road. After 6.5hours we arrived and I gave Rossland resident Steve Omischl a call to see if he wanted to ride with some hacks. Steve O took us up Red top trail. It was unreal! under an hour and just silly good. then we crushed some pints and crashed at Steve's for the night. Fully random and unreal! Rode 7 summits the next morning and Omischl drove the shuttle for us and we did the trail in 4.5 hours, it was maybe the best ride I've done all year. Then we pinned it home and took a shower in the river at rock creek.  Rossland is the best place on earth, I wanna move so bad!
Mike on the Red Top trail. Awesome view of the town of Rossland.
Random cabin on the climb up. This is what "the dream" looks like.
Steve O on top of the world.
Steve U getting it done.
Benz tap?
watching my waist line before the ride.
7 summits put in.

7 summits.
Levy in awe!
are you kidding me?

killing it.
dont slice a tire!

big old mine hole. crazy, we chucked some rocks down. I wouldn't wanna fall in to that.
This is maybe the best thing in life. crushing pints at the take out of 7 summits.
my dirty foot post ride. "you do realize that your foot is getting dirtier by putting it on my dash?" mike levy.
this guy should be in toronto. double double what!

Its Hot Out

Bike season is in full swing. This last weekend was a gooder. Saturday I did the Just Another Bike Race in Squamish. Then Sunday, Craig, Melanie, and I did comfortably numb in Whistler. I have no photos from the race but you can find them on the double shutter web site. I also got my balls crushed by an impressive Neal Kindree who can shred squamish single track better then most. I ended up in 6th place on the day and got second in the timed down hill section. results. Not my best day ever on a bike but not bad for a guy who did more swimming and fishing and kayaking then riding bike. I also have the excuse that my chain guide broke and I kept loosing my chain all day. But in the end I was 15 min back from Neal. the guy could have ate lunch and had a shower while waiting for me.
Craig and I mid week man meal.
How do you mow the grass on a hot day?
Cooling off half hour before the race, Neal has a pool, gotta love it.
Craig and Mel about to get numb. "23k? this should be easy"
Mel getting skinny.
send it.
very nice
brown.
craig loving the numb, it was his first time riding out of the fraser valley. He is riding like a champ! what do you expect? the guy is my cousin and second cousin. He also crashed a couple times and again I say, what do you expect.
Melanie and Ricky enjoying the view.
facing the rock.

packing lot.
craig go boom. after crashing he swam in lost lake, my bet is they might have to chop his leg off because he has some Aussie flesh eating thing because of the lake but time will tell.

Summer Harvest.

Summer is the best! Until winter comes with its excellent pow pow. The riding, kayaking, and picking fresh goods out of the ground is just blower right now.
picked this all out the back yard the other day. The raspberry season is now over but the blueberries are looking good, I feel some blue coming on.
Jordan and I went out to the pointa vista wave the other day, it was straight up wicked. I got in a ton of surfing with my old school Necky jive. It was fast enough to catch the wave so I kept hitting it over and over and over!
its so cool having this right out the back door. dude man!
Peggi's donair is always a hit post paddle or ride. boo yeah! Lamb thursday is my favorite!
Melanie showing off one of the five beans she grew in her little north van garden.
and this is some of the other produce she grew, not bad for the city eh.
now what would summer be with out some meat! if you don't eat your meat you can have any puddin.
On Sunday I went for a great ride with Kevin, Chris, and Melanie. Up to sumas to ride the knob gobbler, squid line, Noah fear, emma peel. that top section of Knob gobbler is maybe the best section of trail in the world. I pooed my pants with joy it was unreal! here Chris slaying the final part of Emma peel. such a great day!

"This is my Ontario"

This is as good as it gets. for Canoe trips the Algonquin Park are so boss! Every real Canadian should have a canoe trip in the Algonquin on their bucket list. Melanie's brother Brad organized the entire thing. It was unreal! Brad and his gf Carly were in one canoe and Mel and I in the other. We did 3 days and 2 nights.
day one we did a couple lakes and a couple portage's the biggest portage we did was like 500m. great day.
doing my best Toby Roessing impression, its not a dog but Im still cool right?
day one camp, Melanie at the feed trough. day one camp was crazy. We camped on misty lake, there is only one camp site on the whole lake, you really get that feeling that you are in the bush and no one else is around. you could hear so clearly sound was insane, you would bang the paddle on the side of the canoe and the sound it made was nuts!
brad cooking up a storm.
a little snapping turtle that was our best friend after Melanie fed if some ground beef. I think we just messed up the food chain with that move.
full moon on the way up, just before the mosquito storm came through and ate us alive.
Me bonking after the 2.5km portage on day 2.
day 2 camp,
Dont bite the hand that feeds you. Brad did an awesome job with the food for the trip, this food barrel was a really cool thing I've never seen before but I guess its a good thing to have unless you wanna wake up next to a little bear.
the full dude man.
last day on the home stretch. my arms are weak.
Carly paddling like crazy. while brad snaps a couple shots.
a photo shoot off.
these people Im sure live in toronto, its a shame really.
the loop we did, counter clockwise kinda on the page. very cool.
this is the closest I ever need to be to toronto.
