The Shoulder Season.

The last week has been very good. I don't know if winter is here for good or if its just a tease, but either way we had an unreal day skiing off the Heliotrope ridge on Sunday. Saturday we started making some furniture and I caught the first fish of the year as well.
Melanie found Craig's bladder in the basement that has been sitting full of water for the past year, the tube was brown, full brown claw! why she's wearing the helmet I don't really know but its funny.

Melanie is just checking out the wood I picked up for this sweet bed frame that we are making. Mel was thinking about spending 1400$ on this bed from the pottery barn. Then she found this ann white web site and we are now making a really nice bed. Im guessing with all the time we spend making this thing that $1400 would have been a good deal.

Saturday after working on the bed frame we hit the river. First cast I pulled in this decent looking chum. We were at the river for about 2.5 hours and I think I pull in 4 fish. Melanie did't pull in that many fish, what a shame. I ended up smoking that chum and its very tasty.

Sunday morning Mel, Nate, and I went up to Baker to ski the Heliotrope ridge.  It was really good for anytime of year but being Oct 21st made it much more sweet. We skinned right from the parking lot and had 3 laps in before the masses showed up. I guess waking up at 5 is worth it.

Nate and Mel on the way down. There was about a foot/foot and a half new snow. It was a little wind blown in some areas and totally fine in others. Here is a photo some guy took of me: http://www.flickr.com/photos/runningclouds/8116589776/in/set-72157631831913262/

She said yes!

Melanie and I got engaged last weekend. She said yes! So unreal! such an awesome woman, Im a really lucky guy. We've been dating for about 15 months now and its been the best time of my life. We met when Melanie started creeping me on the internet. She found this blog and then we started sending facebook messages, I invited her to come skiing on mt Cheam, she came and did a leave behind of her skis. So I "had to" see her again.... the rest is history.

The ring. I got it at a place called Era Design in yaletown. its all locally engraved and really cool.

Fall What?

This Fall has been busy so so far. I've worked a lot, ate a lot, raced the sumas smack down, fished for salmon, and did a bunch of really fun mt bike rides.
this might be one of the best sandwiches I've ever made. Costco triangle bun, farm fresh eggs, farm fresh tomatos, mayo, cheese, and the forbidden canadian back bacon. mmmmmm

I grew a sweet fu for the sumas smack down race. It was the best course I've raced in my entire life.

And they're off!
check out Bob's sweet line, huck the corner bro! shortest line from a-b is a straight line.

Mike Levy on a podium? are you kidding me?

Rode the Frome with Connor. Oh sweet rocky chunder!

went fishing on the cap, these little guys were not taking the bait but being on the river with a rod is one of the best things in life, even if you dont catch anything.

Ian trying to fly fish.

Its been like 15 years since I've heard of the awesome bellingham mt biking. I finally made the trip down to check it out and Mark Peterson took Mel and I out on an unreal little rip. It will be less then 15 years till I go back, pair that up with beer that is cheaper then water and its a win win. Dont buy poultry or dairy however, support your canadian farmer and take pride in free health care.

Had a great birthday ride up sumas with Mel and Nate. 21 never felt so good!

perfect fall conditions

I guess some people know my car. thanks whoever did this, it made my day. and the ride was ok too.
